The U.S. Postal Service is celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year with the release of a special Year of the Snake Forever stamp. This limited-edition stamp marks the beginning of the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac, starting on January 29, 2025, and running until February 16, 2026. The release of this stamp will be commemorated at a festive first-day-of-issue ceremony in Boston, MA, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. EST at the Boch Center — Wang Theatre.

This free event, open to the public, will feature a vibrant cultural celebration with performances by the Wah Lum Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy Troupe and a musical performance by Juliet Brownell-Lee. Key speakers at the event include Luke Grossmann from the U.S. Postal Service, Tiffany Chu from the Office of the Mayor of Boston, Isabel Kim from The Asian American Foundation (TAAF), and Terri Mock from the BCNC.

The Year of the Snake stamp, designed by artist Camille Chew, honors the snake’s association with qualities like wisdom, reflection, and deep thought. People born in the Year of the Snake are known for their wisdom and are often successful in fields such as music, philosophy, and teaching. This stamp release is an excellent way to embrace the new year with a meaningful symbol of renewal.
